Grandma, if you see this today, we might come for dinner if you've got enough food! It won't be Tristen, just me, Ryan & Teghan. Tristen might come over after dance. Teghan & I have the day off tomorrow so we're up for hanging out tonight!

Cool video of a marble run this guy built for his kid's room:

If you want to build one for your own room -- and if my toolbox had more in it than one phillips-head screwdriver and some dried-up super-glue I would -- go here for instructions.

Pretty good article here from the World-Herald about last night's Nebraska vs. Referees game. It's not just the other teams in the conference but the referees too who are trying to get their shots in at Nebraska for leaving the Big 12. In our last three games, our opponents have had a total of 6 penalties (for 59 yds). We had a total of 28 (for 253 yds!), with 16 in last night's game alone -- which is a new Nebraska record. I guess with us leaving some of the refs are out of a job or something...? I really hope we win the Big 12 title just so Bo can take the trophy out to midfield after the game and break it into small pieces with a hammer. That would be cool! :-)

Snow!

Even though I was sort of expecting snow all day, your photo caught me by surprise and I had to go the window to confirm. And yeah, looks like more than an inch of wet snow and still coming down at 10 pm. --Gary

Feels like winter is on its way today, chilly and rainy. We are celebrating Emily's birthday tonight -- she is heading to Omaha tomorrow and works on her birthday. Brent had yesterday off. He went shopping and last night we went out and signed the papers for his new truck!! He picked out a bright red Suzuki Equator 2010. It should be here sometime today (they had to get it from Ames). We will pick it up tomorrow morning.

Wow, Emily has the birthday and Brent gets the present. Nice! :-) --Gary

Good news, everyone! (With apologies to Futurama's Dr. Farnsworth for stealing his line.) We learn two things from this article: 1) Shooting starts in January for The Hobbit, and 2) Shooting starts next summer for season 2 of Sherlock. This Martin Freeman guy is going to be responsible for a lot of my upcoming entertainment.

Hello everyone! Just got done putting the finishing touches on my computer after it needing some rebuilding (in which I lost everything I had since I backed it up a year ago!) and updating software, about a month long process now... Did a google search and found the Home Page (since the web address is one of the many things I lost as well as contracts) and added it to 'My Favorites' button on my keyboard, I'll be stopping in here more often now!!

Welcome back, Sean! :-) Sorry to hear about your computer crash. I'll email you the link to our contact page. (I don't link to it on this site to keep our addresses private.) --Gary

Gary, thanks for changing Ema's birthday. I had noticed it was wrong and intended to email you, but never got to it. I'm sure you didn't forget her birthday last year :)

Thanks also for the game all week -- I enjoyed playing it. Got all 5 right away yesterday -- today 2 still have me stumped.

I was doing a little work on next week's webpages this morning. I took a look at the calendar for upcoming events, and saw that Emily's birthday -- the 11th -- fell on Thursday. ...? Wait a minute, that didn't look right. So I checked through last year's November pages to find her birthday page -- and couldn't find it. Emily's birthday (the 16th) fell on a Sunday last year. I did mention in the preceding Friday's crawl (on the 14th) that her birthday was Sunday, but then Monday (the 17th) was just a plain old page. Emily, did I really forget your birthday last year?? It sure looks that way. I am sorry! I did correct this year's calendar page (which showed your birthday incorrectly for eleven months now...), and I promise not to overlook your actual birthday this year. Dang!

For you cool site fans (someone must be clicking that little blue button, right?), please note that there are two separate cool sites on the the two separate front pages today. John contributed this one from the U.S. Forest Service, and I contributed this one spotlighting some beautiful architecture in a Private House in Tinos. I'm shamelessly drawing attention to it because I didn't want anyone to miss it. Many of you have heard I've been doing a little upgrading in my apartment recently; well, this is how I want it to look when I'm finished. :-)

Yesterday I was really stuck on 4 and 5. I did finally figure out the fifth. Emily had to tell me the 4th. Today I got all 5 first thing -- fun game :)

Thanks! --Gary

Dang, can only get 4 of the 5 words today. Tristen and Teghan great costumes :) We had a fairly busy night, about 350 kids. Weather was pretty nice and Erika just stayed on the porch for the two hours. I did take some video and I tried to send it to the web page, but I have a baby computer and it couldn't handle it. Another early out for me today -- so I got the afternoon off. Getting the furnace serviced right now -- so hopefully it will be able to keep us warm all winter.

Photos would be better for the webpage than video. Video files are relatively huge, and space on our website is getting pretty tight. ...So, which of the five words did you not get? (I like to get an idea of how easy/hard this game is.) --Gary
