I love watching that cat turn off the light. How can second street be more common than first street?

I gave that some thought, too. I'm betting the reason is that for many towns, what would be "First Street" is called "Main Street" -- and they start numbering after that. Anyone else? And yeah, that cat is going from standing still to jumping several times his own height -- more impressive than Michael Jordan! --Gary

We are having a miserable day here too, snow, sleet and wind. Hardly feels like April! Brent is beginning to feel decent again. Yesterday was the 1st day he acted like he was feeling well. Went to our family doctor for a checkup this morning. Everything looked good! I am finally returning to work, plan to go in tomorrow. Seemed liked a good day -- Friday and a party in the morning, should be good day to ease in. Just filled the bird feeders, poor robins are suffering.

As I was standing out in the stinging sleet this morning scraping my windows, I had a thought: Wasn't the first day of Spring like a month ago!?!?

Well we were about to go to Omaha for a doctors appointment, but not now. Brent started to prepare to go and he was worn out. I didn't feel comfortable driving for 4 hours when he is so sick. So I called the dr and changed the appointment, and the nurse made arrangements for him to get his stitches out with our dr here in Sioux City. So he is now back in bed and I have the rest of the day to myself. Still off of work, not sure if I'll go back this week or not. My co-workers are all soooo nice and considerate I think I just may take another day or two.

Brent is home! Had a bit of a setback on Thursday and had to go back to the hospital. He was dehydrated and a slight infection. Stayed overnight and was doing much better.

Great news. Thanks for keeping us all posted. --Gary

We are home!! Boy what a trip...... Doctor finally showed up about 2:30 to discharge Brent. We knew the weather was iffy so we were ready to go. Got on the road at 3:30. Had strong winds and steady rain for most of the way. About 10 miles from SC it was really getting bad. Erika called on the way and told us there was lots of hail in SC. We literally got to SC when there was major hail, about an inch thick on the road. I was concerned about slick spots so I slowed way down. It was pouring hail, never saw it come down so heavy, just in piles in the streets. I was worn out and stressed by the time we got home. But the good news is we are home, Brent managed the trip very well. He is now tucked in his own bed and looking forward to an uninteruptered night. I have had a nice dinner, hot bath and will be in bed soon. Emily is hoping for a late start tomorrow. It is still coming down, lots of thunder and lightning, and snow yet to come. I am taking the rest of the week off. Called my boss yesterday, told her I was too stressed and needed the week, she was very generous and said to take as much time as I needed. So I will sleep in late tomorrow and enjoy it.......

We were watching your weather down here and wondering if you went home ahead of it or stayed to wait it out. Glad you are all home safe and sound. Rest up and de-stress tomorrow! --Gary

Still in Omaha. Brent is having a few issues with pain so doctor thought it was best to stay another day. So hopefully they can control the pain and he can get some rest and home tomorrow......

Brent update.... had a pretty good night. Got some tubes taken out this morning. Off the morphine drip and preparing him to go home. Dr thinks he should be able to go home tomorrow, maybe today, but I think he still needs another day. Pretty woozy this morning. He is eating and up and walking.

I am home, but will go back to Omaha soon. Came home yesterday afternoon, I needed my own bed :) Brent is doing well - should be able to get a few tubes out today and maybe home tomorrow, Monday at the latest. Jack is here this weekend. He and Emily are attending a wedding in town.

Brent is doing OK today. Had a rough night, lots of back pain (not sure why) and way too many interruptions. Two doctors and an ultrasound already this morning, so they should be able to help him a bit more today. Plan is to do lots more walking (we were up and walking at 4 am to help with his back). Recliner is not too bad, just not my bed. Stayed the last two days and I am planning to stay again tonight. Waiting to see how much longer he will be here.

I can't believe Brent is up and walking, after the day he had yesterday! Am hopeful that he is going to be feeling lots better. Bet you are worn out too, how was your hospital recliner, did you sleep? Ten more days Tristen, I think you need a helmet for your birthday!! Enjoyed the Hatgidakis visit, wish you were still here! We have 60's today. On my way out to plant lettuce. Get well and stay well!!

Karen, news sounds better today, glad to hear Brent is up and about so soon. Hope he has a lot less pain now. Keep us posted on how he's doing.

Tristen, hope your nose is feeling better too. :-)

Typing this from the hospital computer so I'll try. Brent had a long day yesterday -- 5 plus hours in surgery. Three surgeons working on him -- all agreed he was by far the worse they had ever seen. Took a long time just to get the incision made, rock hard and lots of infection. Wanted to do more, but were afraid they would nick a vein and then he would bleed out. So not a total success but hopefully it will help with the pain. He had a good night, already up and walking two times this morning. So we will wait to see how it goes from here.

Concussion last week... Back in the game Tuesday & took a ball to the face. Can she just play a normal game without getting hurt?!?!?!

Ouch! Looks painful. Duck next time, Tristen! --Gary

Gary, the bug on the page really creeps me out :) Had a nice Easter yesterday. Jack joined us and we had a good dinner. Even had a mini blizzard for about an hour last night. Just a light covering of snow left. Emily is back to school, but Erika and I are still off. I am taking the whole week off, hopefully return next Monday. Poor Brent is on a clear liquid diet for the day -- no ham leftovers for him today. Taking off tomorrow morning about 8 - surgery at 1. I'll try to keep you posted with updates.
