We won't be able to join this years off site Governors Ball at grandmas, we have a dinner to go to that night. :( We'll be there in spirit!

Aww, too bad. For us, I mean, y'all will be missed! Enjoy your dinner, and good luck with the Oscars. --Gary

Can't make it to the Governors Ball this year, where Wolfgang Puck will be preparing dinner for 1600 Oscar guests? Not a problem! As always, Grandma will be doing the very same menu Sunday night, right down to the Taro Root Tacos and the Carmelized Tobacco Leaves. So if you're in Lincoln, feel free to enjoy the broadcast there. (Note: Some menu substitutions may be necessary, based on the availability of Fleur de Sel, Seeded Lavosh, and Spanish Shrimp among other things.)

AND THE WINNER IS... Actually, we don't know who the winner is yet, but we are ready to play the game. The votes are in, and the scoresheets are in the mail. All we have to do now is wait for Sunday night. In the meantime, you can inspect the voting results here.

On his ballot, Ryan wished everyone good luck, and also proposed that "a handicap be provided to those who never win..... (not bitter....)"

And Mark, poor guy, apparently thinks he has a shot at it this year, as per his note: "Come on two in a row! :-)"

Have fun everybody, and please -- please! -- control yourselves this year and keep the fistfights to a minimum. We can't all win, and why shouldn't it be me?

Okay movie fans, the clock is ticking! This is your final weekend to win the coveted Oscar trophy and $100,000! (Note: Money may not be awarded.) So far our players are Emily, Erika, Gary, Grandma, Jack, John, Karen, and Marsha. If you want to play the game, you must get your votes in this weekend. I'll be making up the scoresheets and mailing them out on Monday. Start clicking!

Apparently the only ones who have seen all 57 nominated films are Emily, Erika, Gary, Karen and Jack, as they are the only ones who have sent in their Oscar ballots. The rest of you have only one week left, so you may have to take some time off and start watching movies. :-) The ballots need to be sent in by next Monday!

Woohoo, that's probably the only way I'll be the top three winner.

I predict that Emily, Erika, and Karen will come in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in this years Oscar race. (Though not necessarily in that order.) How do I know? Because they are the only ones who have voted, so far. But there is still time for you to mess up my prediction: Just go here and start clicking. Only 13 days left!

Saw this on Good Morning America today. So funny.
A four year old wanted to go outside to play and after a few minutes this is what he had to say...

Snow has started, we are to get about 3 inches and lots of wind. Looked like Lincoln was getting snow too.

I am home today. Took a sick day. Actually a sick day for our furnace. It stopped working Sunday morning. Called the repairman and he said he would have to order the part. So no heat for almost 3 days. We have a nice little portable fireplace which does a good job and of course the real fireplace. It gets a little chilly at night, but we survived. They just finished and now it is warming up.

Attention Lincolnites: In view of the weather today, the usual Tuesday night gathering at Gma's is cancelled. Stay safe and warm, everybody!
