Hi everybody! I agree Karen, it is a little quiet but I shouldn't be talking. I haven't been on forever! Anyway, my acting is over! Whew! Two weeks down. The play went good. I was EXTREMELY tired when I got home. I am getting my hair done tomorrow! My appointment is at 2:00pm and it will be about 1 1/2-2 inches off my shoulders and then it will be all layered with some long bangs. That will be different just for the summer and if I like it then... Not having the greatest luck with fish, Emily? I can relate to that! Ok, well I g2g bye!

Hi Everybody! Dad took me and Erika swimming at Yankton today and we got sunburned really bad! And our fish A.J. died this morning we're not sure what happened to him but his warranty isn't up yet so I think we are going to get a new one on Monday. Gotta Go Bye 8)

Boy, web page has been pretty quiet lately. What's going on with everyone out there? We manage to stay busy. Erika went swimming with a friend on Tuesday. Had a great time. She also had a friend over one day last week. Been watching Harry Potter a LOT. Emily is volunteering this summer. She has helped with a class at the museum last week and yesterday she went to the Art Center to help unload lots of legos for the kids center. She also got a call yesterday to help at the museum two days next week. So she is keeping busy. It's been grossly hot here -- 90+ for ten days in a row now and more to come -- Gary how about a countdown until summer is over!!!! Can't believe that Teghan is 6 months old already - happy 1/2 birthday! So how are the moving plans going, Amanda and Ryan? What is everyone doing for the 4th? Being on a Thursday makes it harder to go anywhere. We will stay home and do a few fireworks. The police say they will be much tougher this year -- so we may have to cut back on the supply. Brent, Emily and Erika are going swimming at Yankton tomorrow. I will be staying home in the air conditioning comfort.

Okay, I put a few new items on the countdown page: the first day of autumn, and the first Husker football game. Don't know it that will help, though... I saw a weather forecast this morning that has us in the upper 90s for the foreseeable future. There is a slight chance of possible rain next week on -- you guessed it -- the 4th of July. --Gary

Holy cow, Christmas, halfway there? Yikes, I don't want to think about it already. I suppose though, since on Friday Teghan will be 6 months already! Time flies. She is doing good rolling over, though she hates laying on her belly and hasn't yet mastered rolling from her tummy to her back. She is doing well sitting up, not quite yet ready for unsupervised sitting up, but getting there. I have my last day of class today, just the last test, I'm sure I'll get an A out of the class, so I'm not sweating it...

Be sure to check out today's cool site, as it goes along with the Christmas theme. Google, that excellent search engine, has taken hundreds of current catalogs -- L. L. Bean, Hickory Farms, F.A.O. Schwarz, you name it -- and scanned their pages so you can view the catalogs right on your computer. A cool feature is that you can do a search on all the catalogs at once -- so if you were shopping for someone interested in bears, for example, you could search on that word and find gummy bears in one catalog, teddy bears in another, Berenstain bear books in another, and Yellowstone Park videos in yet another. Very handy!

Hi everyone. I just finished my first week of work at HCMC. I do paperwork, deliver mail (doctors have horrible handwriting), file papers, put labels on things and stuff like that. I like my job! Last night we went to Blockbuster and I bought Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (which is one of the greatest movies), Sugar and Spice, and Josie and the Pussycats. I'm getting some more, but after I get a paycheck! It is VERY hot here! We had 3 inches of rain yesterday morning. It was black as night at 10 a.m. Today I just relaxed. BBFN (byebyefornow)

Hi Everybody! We painted our house today so I am really tired, but the house looks good. I think mom is going to put something on the projects page about it~and there will be pics, Lindsey so U can't say there aren't any 8)
*Lindsey~Glad to hear your play is going well, and we rented the Majestic yesterday too I only watched a little of it but it seemed pretty good.
*Anna~Your Underground Railroad thing sounded really cool (I would have rather been one of the people helping though instead of a slave)
*Samantha~Hope you like your job sounded kinda intresting, but dealing with dead stuff isn't really my thing. Well I gotta Go! BYE
P.S. Glad to hear Sean will be on here more often! 8)

Hey guys. We also went to Blockbuster and got some movies on that great sale -- 6 for us and Sam bought 3. Harry Potter, 13 Days, Ali, Invisible Circus, Tailor of Panama and The Dish. So sorry to hear about Angel. What a horrible fate!! Be sure to give us a review of your play Lindsey.

Lindsey
6/22/2002
~OK, I haven't been on lately due to my theatre arts academy thing so sry. Anyway, that's going good and the play is next Saturday.
~We went to rent movies last night and they had a movie sale that if you buy two then get one free so we got 4 movies. Hey Amanda, guess what! I got Tommy Boy finally. That's like my favorite ever almost! We also got Harry Potter, Snow Dogs (for Olivia) and Hardball. Then we rented the Majestic. They all are pretty good.
~Sean you'll have to get some pictures of your house with the digital camera and put 'em on the webpage (we need more pictures on the projects page)
~OK, well I don't have much more to say, so Bye!

Gary

OK, until more important news comes in for this newsletter, I'm going to continue to fill it up with "Lord of the Rings" news. Fair warning! :-) I just heard that Blockbuster will be doing a special promotion in the next couple of weeks: You buy a 10-week rental card (1 movie a week for 10 weeks) for $24.95 and you get a free copy of "Lord of the Rings" on DVD or VHS when it comes out. I am assuming it won't be the extended version of LOTR with the extra footage; and I am also assuming the 10 rentals won't be for new releases. But if you rent a lot of not-so-new movies and want a free copy of LOTR, it's not a bad deal....

P.S. The temperature is in the upper 90s today, and it's hazy and humid. I hate summer!

The fish bowl was a great idea and good decoration. The only thing we did that we think may have been the problem was we added the water too quickly and the fish couldn't adjust. I don't think it was the roots or anything. We may have had to take out the plant and then add the water.

Sounds like the Hatgidakis's and the Nelson's have great summer plans and jobs.

Donna

Did Paul think it was a bowl of Boston Baked Beans and eat the fish?

Emily
6/17/2002
Paul what happened to your fish bowl???

Amanda

Yikes, ask my dad about that new vase/fishbowl deal... Don't think it is all it's cracked up to be.

6/17/2002
Our fish Angel was murdered last night. Nicole killed him. Mom saw him on the rug and thought it was a bug, but when dad came out he said it was Angel. Well, we bought a new fish today his name is AJ (Angel Jr.) and we got a new bowl that is kitty proof, actually it is a vase. It has a thing in it where the plant goes in so Nicole and Cocoa can't go fishing anymore. Gotta Go Bye 8)

Gary
6/17/2002
Of course you're going to buy the "Lord of the Rings" on DVD or VHS when it comes out -- but which version?? Check out the options here. Some very cool stuff!

Gary
6/17/2002
The webpage is all updated now, I think. Check the recent photos page for some new pictures from Emily and Erika (that actually came in last week), and see the projects page for new pictures of their rooms. Also, there's a review on the reviews page that got held up for a week. My apologies for the delay!

Hi everyone. This story is kind of late, but I had a lot of work to do at school and finals to take. The kids that were originally supposed to go to Washington D.C. in September got to go on a different trip. We went to Wilder Forest to experience the Underground Railroad. We were slaves in a big group trying to escape slavery. It was about 10 p.m. when we started. We were running away from slave catchers and had to run through the woods, wade through a swamp, hide under a bridge, and hide in a tiny building. We were really scared! It seemed so real. Finally we made it to freedom and none of us got caught! It was an amazing experience and I'm so glad I got to do it.

Hi there everyone! Tomorrow I am going to my new job at HCMC (Hennepin County Medical Center) in downtown Minneapolis. I do not know what I'm going to do there yet, but I will be there for 8 weeks. In school we went to Duluth to see the medical center there. I saw a dead body that had been there for a while (not able to eat beef jerky anymore.) I got to touch his brain and his liver and poked my finger in his eye socket. I was wearing gloves. It smelled horrible in there. I also saw other stuff in there like a tapeworm, a hand that had cancer, and what a liver looks like after too much alcohol. I am glad summer vacation is here!!! Gary, your trip to Rome sounded cool. I'm glad you had a good time. Tonight for Father's Day we took Dad out to dinner at the 5-8 Club. Good bye....

Gary

I've put together a page with some photos from Rome. It's not the complete story at all, but it hits some of the highlights. I had a fantastic time -- read about it here!

Hey Emily, your volunteer job sounds so cool (except for the glue on the arm part). Congrats! It's good to have the web page back, we all missed it. Can't wait to hear tales from Italy. We have been school free since only Tuesday, so we're all getting used to the new schedule. We have had sooo much rain lately, really chilly tonight, down to 53. Northern Mn. has had 10 inches of rain in a few days and flooding is happening up there. John had a good trip to Chicago and scouted out places for us to visit there for our August trip.

Hey Everybody i started my volunteering today, I was working at the museum with 4 other people. They were having blues clues pee~wee pioneers. We were planning on having around 30 kids but 52 4 and 5 year-olds showed up, so we had to take them to look for clues in 2 groups. But when we took them we noticed one of the clues was missing. One of the kids took it but we found it. After we found all of the clues we went to the "thinking rug" and came up with buffalo as the answer. Then we took the kids to make buffalo masks, most of the kids could kinda put it together, but this one kid couldn't and when I told him to glue it together he squeezed glue all over my arm! Anyway after the kids finally left we cleaned up and we will be getting a letter later to tell us when we can come again.
