Seems to be working here -- I've sent a few this morning and received 3-4.

Donna
2/28/2001
Karen, I don't think your email is working. I just tried sending emails to you twice now and they both came back.
I had one to you bounce back this morning too. I mailed it again, and so far it hasn't bounced. Maybe "net-congestion"? --Gary

Karen

No school for me today -- not because of the weather -- but because they are knocking down half of the school! Hasn't affected the preschool too much (so far) and it looks like we will eventually be in new school, but in the meantime, a lot of construction and confusion. More info and picture here.

Gary

What are we looking for in the front page picture? Is there a dead body in there?
Ooog, no! It's just a thing of beauty. If there's a game involved, I'll let you know. ...dead body, sheesh! :-) --Gary

We all have new addresses and it seems to be working -- so please change the addresses once more and hopefully this will be the last time -- thanks.

Amanda
2/15/2001
I give up, I couldn't find Brent's name, is it a trick????
Not a trick! Click on "City Services," then "Planning and Zoning," then "Division Staff." Or, just click here. --Gary

Boy, are you guys in Lincoln spoiled!! We also got about 3 inches of snow this morning, but not even a late start for us. Took Emily to school at 7:30 this morning, there was heavy, blowing snow. Could only see about 1 block ahead of you. But on the brighter side -- it was Valentines day -- so I was loaded down with boxes of chocolates from the preschoolers -- such a tough job :)

Amanda

No cancellations for me! Probabaly because the University only cancels if elementary & highschools cancel & they won't be doing that anymore, they took off too many already so now students are going in 5 minutes early every day & staying 20 minutes late every night to make up for all the ones they have had off so far! Poor kids! I however didn't go to class, the tires on #2 (that is what we call the truck that I am driving, since it is the exact same as Ryan's but I refuse to claim it as my car) are as bald as Jesse Ventura, so it's best for me to stick close to home. I will however have to go into work. They cancelled flights here on base Ryan said, so it must be bad. Lots of acidents on Omaha's interstate system I heard. Also one of our snow plow guys that has worked for the city for 35 years got killed this morning, he was getting his truck ready at 5:30 AM & another truck backed over him. We went to Lincoln last night to pick up our tax return and the roads weren't bad, just LOTS of fog, I drove there & couldn't see 100 feet ahead of me, but it was either go last night or today, man am I glad we chose last night.

Donna
2/14/2001
I am one of those at home today. I was really surprised to hear this morning that all schools are closed. I heard they even shut down the interstate between Lincoln and Omaha for awhile last night. It must really be icy. Glad I don't have to find out for myself.

Gary
2/14/2001
Yeah, that was an impressive achievement on John's part. I looked at the Oscar statue on my shelf last night, and it was quietly packing its bags.... But we'll see on March 25! :-) It's another snow day here in Lincoln, for everyone except me; Lincoln Public schools are closed, but the University chugs along. Only a dusting of snow, but the ice underneath it is bad. Took me half an hour to chip the stuff off my windows this morning before I could drive. And I needed all that visibility to watch out for the maniacs out there who zipped past me in cars totally iced over except for a little scraped patch in front of their faces.... Oooh, that burns me up! Those of you still at home in your jammies and slippers, enjoy your day!

Marsha
2/13/2001
John is off to a good start picking 4 out of 5 for best picture. Looks to be another tight race to claim the statue. You were all so lucky to have yet another snow day! We've had over 50 inches of snow this year, but no days off for us. Today was foggy and sleety and generally yucky. Happy Valentine's Day!

Emily
2/11/2001
Hi. Erika and I got our own E-Mail address today! Mine is NelEmily@msn.com and Erika's is ENSmiley@msn.com. Mom and Dad's is the the same!! Bye 8)
These addresses have changed since this was written--see the Contact page. --Gary

Does anyone know what Chris Farley bit that is there?????
That's Matt Foley, the motivational speaker who "lives in a van down by the river." --Gary

Donna
2/9/2001
I love that dog! But I'm with Erika. You gotta get a cat too. Do you have any other animals? Hey how about a dancing Chris Farley?

You got it! --Gary

Erika
2/9/2001

Hi, I want a kitty instead of a dog :)
Sorry, I don't have any kitties; how about two dogs? --Gary

Emily
2/9/2001

NO FAIR!!!! I had to go to school all day today. We were supposed to get lots of snow yesterday, so mom let us stay home but they didn't cancel school and it got a lot better. Hope it gets better down there soon!!!! (hey Gary can I get a dog too?) 8)
Everybody gets a dog today! :-) --Gary

Dad or Lindsey ~~ Hey Linz if you see this tell Dad to look at it, if not Dad this is for you. Can you get us a cordless caller ID phone? The one I got from dumb Qwest is junk, it will not work so I am going to send it back! But we have no phone, so I thought I would see if you could get us one. Let my know how much it will be & then we will talk, thanks!

Amanda

I am working at SAC Federal Credit Union. We have been members there since we moved here, and I was in there a couple of weeks ago & saw that they were hiring for part time positions. I am an Ops Clerk, whatever that means. It is not a bad deal though, I go in anytime in the afternoon & film, like all checks to go to the Federal Reserve, and all reciepts from work the day before, I film it all & send it off to the developer to be put into microfilm. Not too bad, I come & go as I please, the only one who has to deal with my work not getting done is me, so I should have not gone in today, but I am still new & didnt want to push it, ya know?

Amanda
2/9/2001

THIS WEATHER SUCKS!!!!! GOD, I hate the credit union, I hate school (because I cant make enough money going to school to drive my Explorer) I hate that Nissan pickup! I hate just about everything today, I could go for another dog! I had to go into work, and that was awful, the roads were plowed, but it did no good with the blowing snow, I couldnt see 2 feet ahead of me. So I get to work and am pulling in the parking lot & that is when I get stuck! I hate not having 4WD! I probably burned up the clutch in that truck til a nice man with a BIG truck came and rescued me & chained that dumb truck to his 4WD savior and pulled me out. So I was there for all of an hour & 45 minutes, it could have waited until tomorrow or Monday! I cant believe they are open, but dont even have their lots shoveled! Except now the truck is omitting a nasty odor from the engine area, whoops! Anyhow, I am home now, thank god, and I am not leaving until April!

Karen
2/9/2001

Wow, sounds like Lincoln got hit with the snow. We didn't get much at all. A lot of sleet and about 1 inch of snow. Ours started on Wednesday afternoon. Looked like it was going to be nasty yesterday so I let Emily and Erika stay home -- but they didn't cancel school. Brent decided to play hooky yesterday too. Today there is no snow, but cold, cold, cold! Well have fun with your snow day :)

Donna
2/9/2001

Just heard the power's out in Eagle. And that we are now at 9 inches and it just keeps coming. What a storm. A neighbor snowblowed our sidewalk at 8 this morning and now you can't even tell. I am baking Karen's bread and soup today. I've been waiting for just a day like this to use it. Amanda, where are you working? I hope you don't have to go in. I love the Chris Farley site, but I didn't get sound.
If you don't get sound, it may be that you haven't set up Netscape to receive and/or play sound files. No big deal, and easy to fix. What you're missing on the Farley site is an instrumental version of "My Sharona" playing while Farley dances. :-) --Gary

Gary
2/9/2001

I just now (10:45 am) saw a car get stuck -- in the street right in front of my house. And still snowing! :-)

Amanda
2/9/2001

I just want a dog, I don't usually have class today so no big deal. I think my work is open (boo hoo) so I need a dog to cheer me up!

Donna
2/9/2001

Oh yeah, another snow day. And this one is official. Can you believe how much is shut down? Practically the entire city. It sounds a little like the storm of '97. How nice to have it land on Friday. That makes a nice long weekend. I like the dog too. Put one on my message too please.

Lindsey
2/9/2001

I get a snow day too!!! Olivia and I are just staying at home today. Nice little picture Gary!

Gary
2/9/2001

WOO-HOO! Snow day! Snow day! :-)

Lindsey
2/8/2001
We are supposed to get more snow and hail and my teacher said that we might have a snow day, so I am hoping!!

Gary
2/8/2001
I'm in the office today. I'm hoping for a snow day tomorrow, too, but not counting on it. At this University, the words "snow" and "day" are never used consecutively in the same sentence....

Donna
2/8/2001
It's been a snow day for me. I'm working from home. I almost went in this morning. But now I'm really glad I didn't. It's really sleeting here with a sheet of ice on everything. I'm hoping for another snow day tomorrow.

Amanda
2/8/2001
No school for me today! I bet I still have to go into work later though, bummer! Pretty bad ice, and they say tons o snow on the way??????

Samantha
2/7/2001
Waz up my peoples?! Well, it's been snowin all day here. I hope we get a snow day, we haven't had one this whole school year.

Marsha
2/7/2001
It started snowing this morning (we have 5 inches as of 6:30) and it's supposed to keep up through Saturday, off and on. It's very pretty and has cleaned up the old dirty snow. Everyone is hoping for a snow day. It's good to see Lindsey back on the scene! We missed her reviews and news.

Lindsey
2/7/2001
I'm sorry too Donna. Yah, Dusty got used to me too and let me pick her up and hold her. But my very first time with her wasn't a good one!!!!!!

Marsha
2/6/2001
So sorry to hear about Dusty, Donna. Sam said Dusty even sat on her lap and let her pet her. It's sad to lose a pet.

Sean
2/5/2001
Hi. Just wanted to let everyone know I'm starting school in March. I'll be going to Southeast Community College. I'm taking the CAD program. I will be starting with two classes to get me back into the school thing. They haven't made up the schedule yet, but the classes will be at night and work is pretty flexible around class hours. The best part is, all of my schooling is paid for by my work!!

Amanda
2/5/2001
I didn't realize that was so long ago... I remember it like it was yesterday, and still feel bad about it, leaving you to care for her, darn kids.... But I am glad to see you loved her so much. Tristen said she will miss her even if she bites her and then goes to the basement, and that Donna can have Zoe and she will miss her. If you need anything, Donna, let us know..... Good-bye Dusty.....

Donna
2/4/2001
I said good-bye to a friend Friday. I came home from work to find a very sick Dusty. The vet said it could be a number of things but most likely kidney failure. So she had to be put to sleep. Dusty was at least 91 years old. Amanda, do you remember 14 years ago asking me if you could get a cat and let it live at my house? Dad took us and Sean to Uncle Vern's farm to look over a new litter of kittens. Sean, I think you were the one to name her Dusty, because she got a little dirty rolling on the ground. She was a good kitty even though she attacked just about everyone at one time or another--most especially at slumber parties.

Lindsey
2/4/2001
hi guys! Just haven't been on the webpage for a while. I found out what the Friends thing was about and I watched Friends!! Survivor is just too gross what they eat. Well, I gotta go, bye!

Lindsey
2/3/2001
What are you guys talking about Friends for??? I am sorry but I haven't gotten on the webpage for a long time!!

Gary
2/2/2001
While Friends may have won in our voting on this webpage, it's looking like Survivor is winning in the ratings. I read this morning that the early Nielsen reports (from selected cities -- the full report won't be out til later today) showed Survivor in a comfortable lead. ...Of course, I remember recently saying the same thing about Al Gore.... Anyway, if true, it will be the first time in years (since the days of Cheers) that NBC wasn't first in the Thursday night ratings.

Marsha
2/2/2001
Well, you all brought me into the Survivor scene. The drama! The angst! The gross foodstuff! Not better than Friends (which they sure aren't) but lots of fun around the water cooler. Especially enjoyed the Letterman promo at the end. I too, hope that creepy, destructive Jerri is next!

John
2/2/2001
While deeply absorbed in the latest addition to my library of 'fine literature,' Spiderman is truly awesome, I happened to overhear bits and pieces of 'Survivor.' Kal deserved to go down. I hope Jerri is next. Oh, how easily I am distracted. Must get back to my reading.
